A further update to my correspondence to WHQ in Chicago last month, I received this nonsense letter from a fairly clueless representative. The part of the letter I really enjoy is where she points out how to find the Contact Us feature on united.com...good grief.

Dear Mr. PointWeasel:

I am responding to your communication addressed to Mr. Sahadevan. Thank you for contacting us about the credit of bonus miles into your Mileage Plus account. I’m sorry for the dissatisfaction you have expressed.

Mr. PointWeasel, I’m sorry that you received a poor impression of United’s ability to serve you. United staff has the training and ability to do a far better job than your comments indicate. Customer satisfaction is an integral part of our commitment to you, so I am concerned with your report that we weren't as responsive as we should have been. So I have forwarded your comments to our Mileage Plus management for their information and internal review.

Further, as your concern involves Mileage Plus, I have forwarded your inquiry to our Mileage Plus Customer Relations team, they can best respond to your inquiry. A representative will be in touch with you as soon as possible. If you prefer to contact them directly, you may reach them by calling 1-800-421-4655 or by emailing them as follows:

• From the www.united.com Home Page, click "Customer Service"
• Click “Contact United”
• Under the “Mileage Plus" heading, click “Mileage Plus Support”
• Under the “Email Support” heading, click either “Contact the Mileage Plus Service Center” or “Request Mileage Credit”

Please include your Mileage Plus membership number. Meanwhile, thank you for your patience.
