Wyndham Gifts Over 45,000 Frontline Workers Points Towards Free Night

To acknowledge the work and sacrifice of hundreds of frontline workers, Wyndham Rewards is gifting 45,000 health care workers, truck drivers, police officers and teachers 7,500 points, enough for a free night at certain properties. The move is part of the hotel’s Everyday Heroes campaign.

Celebrating First Responder’s Day on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, Wyndham Rewards is surprising over 45,000 “everyday heroes” with a gift of bonus points. The rewards program announced they will deposit 7,500 Wyndham Rewards points in the accounts of a number of first responders, as a “thank you” gift for their service.

Wyndham Thanks Everyday Heroes for Keeping America Running

The points will be gifted to several thousand health care workers, police officers, teachers, truck drivers and other heroes. The group is identified through the hotel’s Everyday Heroes campaign, which gifted Wyndham Rewards Gold status to all who signed up through the special landing page.

“Throughout this pandemic, it’s our essential frontline workers who have helped keep us all safe and our Nation running,” Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said in a press release. “On this National First Responders Day, we want to honor their hard work and continued sacrifice.”

The hotel loyalty program introduced their Everyday Heroes campaign at the beginning of April 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was at its earliest stages. According to the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center, there have been over 8.8 million identified cases of COVID-19 in the United States, and over 227,000 deaths since the outbreak began in March 2020.

Those who received the bonus points will receive an e-mail to inform them of the gift. They will have until Nov. 18, 2020 to claim the points, and will have 18 months to redeem them towards a free night at a Wyndham property.

Qualified Wyndham Rewards members in one of the essential worker categories can still claim free Gold status by visiting their website at www.wyndhamrewards.com/heroes. The free status offer for essential staff is available through Dec. 31, 2020.

Wyndham Rewards Continues to Court Guests During Pandemic

The move is the latest to encourage new bookings at Wyndham properties, as the entire travel category hits a major slump due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among hotel programs, Wyndham was the first to reduce elite status requirements for the 2020 qualification year, while also offering bonus points for stays.

The reduced loyalty tier requirements have since been matched by American Airlines and Hilton Honors, as the 2020 holiday travel season begins. Airlines say they are hopeful that the end of the year will help them improve their bottom line in what has been a dismal performance year.

+1 Flyinhy! Even the low-end $60 buxanite Days Inns around Charleston require 15K! This bonus is one free night in certain HoJos, Super8s, or Days Inns where the choice is an Interstate Freeway View or a Roof of WalMart View ;) ! Better than nothing, but Big Bleepin' Whoop!

Much appreciated, but it's more like a half night. 7500 points doesn't get you far.
