Venezuela Loses LATAM Service

LATAM Airlines, the biggest airline in South America, is ceasing service to Venezuela due to the volatile economic climate in the country, citing a “difficult macroeconomic scenario.” LATAM representatives have said that flights between Sao Paulo and Caracas halted Saturday, and that remaining service between Santiago and Lima will be suspended by July. Venezuela is undergoing a severe economic crisis that includes the world’s highest inflation rate and scarcity of basic goods. LATAM is the latest carrier to refuse service to the nation, including Lufthansa and Tame and Air Canada.
