United’s focus on raising the service level on regional flights to more closely mirror the in-flight experience on mainline flights is getting a jump start with brand new dining options.

Dinner in United First and United Business Class cabins on United Express flights will soon more closely resemble meal service on United’s mainline flights. Next week, the airline will introduce a fresh new menu with dining options served in the premium cabin on chinaware.

United plans offer the new full-service breakfast, lunch and dinner menus on any regional flight more than 2 hours and 20 minutes in duration. The menus have an array of trendy new options, including a tri-color quinoa salad, BBQ pulled chicken and coleslaw on a pretzel roll, Greek yogurt and more. United Express will also begin offering snack service similar to that offered on United’s mainline service for shorter flights.

United Vice President of Food Services Lynda Coffman expects the in-flight dining upgrades to be a hit with passengers. “These freshly prepared restaurant-quality meals and expanded meal and snack services more closely align the United Express in-flight experience with our new mainline service, which is proving very popular with our customers,” said Coffman.

The new premium cabin menus are part of a multi-faceted plan by the airline to make in-flight service on United Express more on par with the experience on United’s mainline flights. In January, the company introduced its Eco-Skies recycling program to select regional flights and is continuing an aggressive effort to upgrade both Wi-Fi and in-flight entertainment equipment across its regional fleet.
