Turtle Found on Flight to Be Euthanized

A freshwater turtle fell out of an overhead bin compartment and onto the seat on a JetStar flight that had just landed at Hobart International Airport (HBA) Sunday. After no one came forward as the owner, a crew member picked up the reptile and took it away, according to reports.

Because no freshwater turtles are native to Tasmania and they are on the list of wildlife that is illegal to be brought into the state as they pose a threat to other freshwater species, the turtle will be euthanized.
