Passengers Told to Brace Themselves in Emergency Landing

A Flybe flight en route to Iverness on Friday was forced to return to Manchester shortly after takeoff for an emergency landing in which the pilot declared a Mayday and told passengers to brace themselves.

An airline spokesman said, “Shortly after takeoff, the captain received a caution indication from the aircraft’s systems and as a precaution, elected to return to Manchester and declared a May Day.”

Though their landing was successful, passengers onboard flight BE6976 were told to “check for flames” while deplaning.

The incident is being attributed to a technical fault, which could have affected the steering controls.

What should the captain have ordered instead????? Sit back and relax the emergency landing? When making the escape from the plane don't worry about debris and flames???? I don't see the story in this.
