Airline Fined $4,000 for ‘Abandonment’

Morocco national airline Royal Air Maroc has been ordered to pay $4,000 in compensation to a family of four after a flight their flight to Canada was delayed for almost 24 hours. The sentence was passed by Judge Jean Faullmen of the Division of Small Claims of the Court of Québec.

According to Canadian news source TVA Nouvelles, the family arrived at the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) at 11:00 a.m. on August 15 for a flight scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m. Passengers were informed that the flight had been delayed due to mechanical problems, but failed to provide any further updates, leaving passengers “abandoned” and uninformed for 24 hours, according to TVA Nouvelles.
