Leopard Runs Amok at KTM

On Monday, a wild leopard got loose on the runway at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) and was spotted by the pilot of a private airline. Security and wildlife control moved quickly to contain the leopard, blocking drains near the airport that could be potentially used by the leopard to hide.

“We closed the airport for about 30 minutes after the incident was reported but we haven’t found the leopard yet,” said Prem Nath Thakur, airport spokesperson.

“We are trying to capture the animal after it entered the drains. We have mobilized a total of 50 people including firefighters, security forces and wildlife officials.”
