JetBlue Adds Pathways and Benefits to TrueBlue Mosaic in 2021

Prior to consummating their partnership with American Airlines, JetBlue is changing how flyers earn TrueBlue Mosaic status in 2021. When elites qualify for status, they will get several new benefits, including a limited-time companion pass and same-day Even More Space upgrades.

Starting in 2021, JetBlue will add more ways for flyers to earn TrueBlue Mosaic elite status, while adding two new temporary benefits. In a press release, the New York-based airline announced the four ways flyers can now reach the sole status tier, along with new benefits they will receive alongside milestone awards for collecting Mosaic Qualifying Points.

Four Pathways to Elite Status, a Companion Pass Benefit, and Milestone Rewards

As with American Airlines and United Airlines, JetBlue is reducing the number of points flyers need to earn TrueBlue Mosaic status in the next year. However, the airline is taking it a step further by also introducing an additional way to achieve status without flying. Effective for the entirety of 2021, flyers can earn Mosaic status in four different ways:

  • Collecting 7,500 Mosaic Qualifying points (previously 15,000 points)
  • 6,000 Mosaic Qualifying points + 15 segments (previously 12,000 points and 30 segments)
  • $50,000 spent on purchases with the JetBlue Plus or JetBlue Business Card during the calendar year
  • New and exclusively for 2021: $30,000 spent on purchases with the JetBlue Plus or JetBlue Business Card + 4,000 Mosaic Qualifying points during the calendar year

Once flyers reach Mosaic status, they will get two free checked bags for themselves and others on their itinerary, early boarding, and complimentary alcoholic beverages on board. On top of the current benefits, the airline will add two additional benefits for 2021: an unlimited companion pass through May 20, 2021, and complimentary “upgrades” to Even More Space seats.

The companion pass will be active for Mosaic members who qualify before May 20, 2021. For all travel booked and flown between Jan. 1 and May 20, elite flyers can call the designated customer support hotline to book travel, and their companion will fly for free. To access Even More Space seats, Mosaic members can request an upgrade from a customer service agent at the airport. Upgrades will be given on a first come, first served basis, pending availability.

Along with the additional benefits, JetBlue is also adding milestone rewards for earning Mosaic Qualifying points. The new bonuses flyers can earn include:

  • Receiving 10,000 TrueBlue bonus points after earning 10,000 Mosaic Qualifying points
  • Gift Mosaic status to someone else (valid through 2022) after earning 20,000 Mosaic Qualifying points
  • Receiving a free round-trip Core flight certificate (valid for one year) after earning 30,000 Mosaic Qualifying points

While generous, the airline is making it clear that the benefits are only available through 2021. The program is expected to revert to previous loyalty requirements starting in 2022.

New Benefits Come Ahead of JetBlue Alliance with American

The new benefits come as JetBlue prepares to finalize their previously announced alliance with American starting in 2021. While the two carriers discussed reciprocal elite recognition and benefits, it’s still unclear which perks AAdvantage and Mosaic flyers will get when aboard the other carrier.
