JetBlue Adds Paris to International Footprint

After a successful launch to London, JetBlue announced their next European destination will be Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport, with service starting in 2023.
JetBlue is adding a second European city to their map, after successfully adding service to London in their footprint earlier this year.

The New York-based carrier announced they will begin service to Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) out of their two trans-Atlantic hubs: New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan Airport (BOS).

JetBlue Calls New Route a “Great Service, Low Fare” Option

The airline plans to launch the new service in Summer 2023, linking the two airports to one of Europe’s most visited cities. Leaders for the carrier are touting the new offering as a high-value, low-cost alternative to the legacy carriers currently operating the route.

“JetBlue is offering something completely unique to what you get from the big global legacy airlines on these routes – where a single high-fare joint venture operates nearly three-quarters of the flying,” airline chief executive Robin Hayes said in a statement. “The response to our London service is proof that combining great service with low fares works. We can’t wait to bring our reimagined Mint and core offerings to Continental Europe’s most visited city.”

The route will be operated on the carrier’s Airbus A321LR airframes featuring the enhanced “Airspace” interior. The flights will offer 24 lie-flat Mint seats with a sliding door for additional privacy, with bedding from Tuft & Needle. The 114 economy seats claim to offer “the most legroom in coach” based on the baseline pitch of trans-Atlantic aircraft, and a “Build Your Own Dining” experience from New York restaurant group Dig.

Like other JetBlue flights, flyers will get access to unlimited and free high-speed internet access throughout the flight, as well as a selection of live television at each seatback video screen. Passengers can also access a full library of movies and other entertainment. It is unclear if the carrier will add French programming to their entertainment lineup

New Service Part of Major Expansion Season for JetBlue

The announcement of adding Paris to JetBlue’s international footprint is the latest step in the carrier’s ambitious expansion plans. Before winning a bid to merge with Spirit Airlines, the carrier added two international routes beyond their focus on the Caribbean and Central America: London and Vancouver.
