Florida Couple Attempts to Smuggle Cat in Checked Luggage

A young couple from Tampa, Florida who attempted to smuggle a six-year-old cat named Slim within checked baggage at Erie International Airport (ERI) have been charged with animal cruelty after sneaking their cat into their checked baggage.
“Twenty-eight years I’ve been here. I’ve seen some unique things. I’ve been involved in plenty of unique things. This is a first,” said Ian Bogle, director of public safety at ERI.
Slim the cat is currently at a cat shelter in Erie.
