First Airline Founded by a Black Woman Goes International

Fly Blue Crane, an airline that has operated domestically in South Africa since its creation last September, is set to launch its first international flight on May 13 with a flight from Cape Town to Windhoek. Fly Blue Crane CEO Sizakele Mzimela is the first black executive vice president of South African Airways and the first woman to be included in the Board of the International Air Transport Association, and she had previously expressed a desire to expand the Fly Blue Crane beyond South African borders, singling out Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the DRC as potential destinations.
