Used 3k points(2x1500) to upgrade to Executive floor and when I checked in was given room on 6th floor. Executive rooms are on 10th /11th. I was really po'd. Had check-in escort call down to desk...no availability. But my travel partner calmed me down by pointing out that Exec. rooms do not have balconies. I could not see any either. Our room indeed had a balcony looking out over the City. I could see where this would be considered a nice upgrade. No problem using Exec floor lounge for breakfast, cocktail hour and free internet. Was treated very well by staff. However on our first night someone in the next room smoked an entire carton of cigarettes. Due to jet lag I was up at 3am using the internet and I could smell fresh smoke in the hallway ! Wow I hope they are smoking American products so as to help with the trade (im)balance. Used the bus to the train station a couple of times(great amenity). Overall felt pretty good about the stay. I guess my report falls somewhere in the middle of the 2 extremes I have been reading about regarding this property. I would stay at this property again when in Kyoto.
