Short Review
We recently stayed at the Siam. It is a very nice property with good service and lots of space. Fantastic spa and staff who are trying very hard. Very much like an Amanresort. We were upgraded to a river view pool villa, which had a nice roof terrace overlooking the Chao Praya. We did not use our pool because the main pool is much nicer. They took us by boat to dinner at the MO and I have to say it was a huge contrast. The MO was VERY busy and the lobby in particular was overcrowded. I did not find the atmosphere to be particularly elegant. The new Italian restaurant is quite good, but I find it odd that such a large chunk of the terrace is taken up by a buffet restaurant.
Things I didn't love so much about the Siam were the second restaurant - the Deco Bar. It is tucked behind the Thai restaurant with no view and was always empty. I would move it to the space where the cafe currently is in the lobby, which was also always empty, but could be a really attractive space. As others have noted the location is not ideal - it's a bit of a schlep to Central Bangkok, but OK for a couple of days.
