Short Review

The RC San Juan (near the airport) is the worst Ritz int he system. It shouldn't even be flagged as a Marriott, IMHO.

I had to stay there one night after a flight cancellation. We didn't have a particularly deluxe room (though I booked the highest available), and it was small and musty. The pool area was overrun, and there was visible slime at the waterline around the pool. The beach in front of the hotel is dirty, and there was household waste (washing machines, etc) visible in the water. It seemed you could get your hair braided or buy pot easily on the beach, too.

Service was also atrocious. Basic requests for things like extra towels went unmet. After three calls to housekeeping didn't yield towels (they were promised, but never came), I walked to the front desk to get extra towels. Of course, for ten minutes I stood at the front desk and found it completely untended. When a clerk did appear, she offered to call housekeeping. I insisted that she and I walk together to wherever the treasury of extra towels was. She at first refused, saying she couldn't leave the desk unattended. When I pointed out that she had left it untended for the prior ten minutes, she acquiesced.

We ate at two of the on-property restaurants and we couldn't agree which of the two was worse.

Other than proximity to the airport, I cannot think of a strength of this hotel.

I wish you better luck.
