Grand Premier Suite

I'm here now and wow am I impressed by the suites and "houses" here. They refer to the top suites as houses and they aren't wrong in that appellation. They are like English manor homes. One of them even has its own entrance and post code. But after touring a "lower" level house, which was the Cupola Suite I decided to stay in the Grand Premier Suite that I had originally booked via a CTS Wow offer. The Cupola Suite was a free upgrade, but seemed a bit cramped to me. Although the upstairs living room is quite spacious, the bedroom with the doors closed is tight and the staircase leading up to the living room is rather narrow. But similar to an old London home I suppose. I'm sure the higher end houses, as you can see on the Rosewood site, are amazing.

Room

The Grand Premier Suite is about as good as a Presidential Suite at some other luxury hotels. The bespoke quality was everywhere. There is not a fault to be found in this suite. And after recent stays at several other London luxury hotels such as the Four Seasons and the MO, I can safely say that the Rosewood London is a league above these properties in terms of the suites and the quality of the furnishings.

The bathrooms in the suites are stunning. In my suite there is a long hallway leading from the sinks to the shower and then to the bathtub which has a large screen TV in the mirror. I could sit back in the bath, sip Champagne and watch football. Glorious!

If you close the bedroom doors, which appear to be worth a fortune themselves, you can easily entertain a large group in the living room with separate closets and bathroom for your guests. And there is butler team at all the suites here who are happy to come serve tea to your guests, etc.

Spa

The spa area is excellent with a nice steam and sauna facility in each changing area. Plus a wonderful relaxation lounge as one would expect in a high end spa.

Dining

We reserved a table at Scarfes Bar which is highly recommended as this place seems to be a current "hot spot" in London. Excellent service and cocktails. The signature cocktails are 14.50, while a normal Manhattan cost me 9. Later we went to the Holborn Brasserie which apparently isn't owned by Rosewood, but has an arrangement with the hotel so you can sign the check to your room. This isn't a high end restaurant, but still it's very good and has a vibrant exciting atmosphere. At least on a Friday night. Dinner for two with a modest bottle of wine was 100. Breakfast can be had a la carte at the Holborn, or continental/buffet in the Mirror room, or in-suite. We chose the Mirror room this morning which has a wonderful design. It reminded me a bit of the old ground floor breakfast at the MO Hong Kong. Again, everything was bespoke in this room. I was told that Caroline Rose Hunt herself purchased the entire property outright and thus wasn't in a rush to open the hotel and to install the level of quality she demands.

Overall

We got the full FHR package which included a $100 Spa credit plus $100 F&B and free breakfast, free Internet, 12pm check in and 4pm check out. And they even extended, as an exception, my check out to 6pm!

For those looking for a great hotel to celebrate an anniversary, look no further. You will find some very special surprises waiting for you in your room when you get back from dinner!

Finally, I will say that in comparison with the FS London I give a slight nod to the FS in terms of service especially at the door, front desk and bar/restaurant. But for the rooms and overall quality, the Rosewood wins hands down. It's not even close.
