Double Deluxe River View

Overall excellent experience. We only stayed one night for my boyfriends birthday in June and it exceeded all expectations. A truly unforgettable experience.

Check In

The check in process was seamless. We arrived early for check in as our flight arrived earlier than we anticipated. They were more than welcome to give us our room keycards 3 hours earlier than standard check in. We even got a room upgrade to a river view room overlooking the Thames.

Room

We were upgraded to a river view deluxe room. The mini bar had a huge selection of snacks and alcohol to choose from. The beds were very big and comfortable but the pillows were a little hard for my liking. The rooms were modern and clean.

Service

The service was excellent and we were always greeted with a smile. They allowed us to leave our luggage after check out and we came back later to collect them.

They also allowed us to have a late check out when we politely asked when returning home from a night out.

We were very impressed when we came back from a day of sightseeing that there was a bottle of champagne and a card waiting for my boyfriend to wish him happy birthday.

Dining

The restaurant is in a good location just along the river and was lovely in the summer when we went. The prices were a bit steep for what you get. They have a set menu if you are a Mastercard holder which means you get a choice of a starter main course and a dessert. They have a full bar and the cocktails looked good even though we only ordered a bottle of wine.

The Rumpus Room at the top level of the hotel is definitely a must-see. Make a reservation before going as it tends to get busy but it is worth it for the views alone. You must be dressed smart or they can refuse entry. Although we were told no caps or trainers but they ended up letting in one of our friends. The prices are extortionate but this is a prime location in London. Service was good if not a bit forced and slow at times. The menu that we had did not list prices and the waiter was unable to tell us how much our individual drinks would be and said he would come back and let us know - but didn't. This meant we easily racked up a bill.

Location

The location is fantastic and easily accessible to the rest of London. I suggest if you are coming directly from the airport instead of taking the Gatwick Express, buy a return ticket to Blackfriars and exit there and walk under the bridge and you're right beside the hotel entrance. It's cheaper and much more convenient than transferring at one of the bigger train stations.
