Intro

This is a little belated review from December last year.

I was in Barcelona for DockerCon and had spent 5 nights at The Level at Melia Barcelona Sky prior to a 1 night stay at the Majestic Hotel & Spa.

I booked through a Virtuoso agent so recieved the usual amenities.

Booked a Deluxe Passeig de Gràcia room.

Check In

I arrived just after 12pm after checking out of the Melia, it was only a short 10 minute taxi drive.

Check in was a bit frosty after the usual pleasantries the receptionist seemed to overlook it was a Virtuoso booking, she started telling me about breakfast and it's charges.  I explained I booked via Virtuoso so breakfast is included she then read the reservation letter in the envelope she picked up and apologised. I presume it wasn't indicated on the monitor when she pulled up the details or she just overlooked it.

Room

As above I had booked a Deluxe Passeig de Gràcia room - https://www.hotelmajestic.es/en/accommodation-deluxe-passeig-de-gracia-room-barcelona-center-5-stars

but to my suprise on opening the door it the room was a lot larger than I was epxecting it to be.

I was in room 325.

After checking online the room I was in is a Junior Suite Passeig de Gracia.   This upgrade was not mentioned when checking in.

Despite the colour scheme the room was very well appointed.

As you walk into the room there is a guest toilet on your right hand side, with a mini bar and tea / coffee on the left as well as room safe.

The living area is a good size with a 3 person sofa, armchair and good sized work desk which had plug socks in the wall (yay), a seperate smaller desk and chair and large sliding doors leading onto a balcony overlooking the Passeig de Gracia.

Large wall mounted TVs are in both the living area and bedroom.

A weclome note, biscuits and bottle of red wine was waiting on the table on my arrival.

Bedroom again is well furnished with a king sized bed, bedside tables & lamps with light controls both sides.  Another large sliding door onto a smaller balcony.

The one dissapointment with the bedroom was the small wardrobe space, if you're there as a couple with numerous shirts & dresses etc it might be a struggle.

The bathroom is a great size, nearly all marble with 2 sinks, seperate toilet, seperate rainfall shower and a wirlpool bath.

Dining

Unfortunalty I had food poisoning (ugh) the day before I checked in here... but with €85 credit via Virtuoso booking that wasn't going to stop me...

I had a burger at lunch from the rooftop bar which was good.  Very nice views and a good atmopshere up there - https://www.hotelmajestic.es/en/cocktail-bar-rooftop-terrace-la-dolce-vitae-5-stars-hotel-passeig-de-gracia-barcelona

In the evening I ate at restuarant SLOC - https://www.hotelmajestic.es/en/fine-dining-restaurant-solc-eixample-5-star-hotel-barcelona

I had a large steak w/ mustard mash side which was superb and a chocolate mousse dessert w/ honeycomb shards, olives (odd) and lemon sorbet.

The restaurant was busy as there was a large birthday group, but the service I recieved was very attentive.

Unforatunly in the morning 'things' had caught up with me, so I had to skip breakfast which was a real shame as I had read very good things about the buffet breakfast.

Location

Located right in the middle of Passeig de Gracia you're only a few minutes walk away from Casa Mila and Casa Batllo.

El Nacional is a great place to eat and drink which is only a 5 minute walk away -  https://www.elnacionalbcn.com/

The location is excellent, even though Barcelona is a really well connected city if you don't fancy walking much it's in a great spot.

Overall

I had a really good night stay at the Majestic, it's a well refined hotel with character and charm.

Ideally I'd liked to have stayed longer, tried out the spa facilities and missing breakfast was a real shame.  I'd definitely reccomended it.
