Stats

Small boutique style hotel offering 170 or so rooms, 2 restaurants (Italian in basement and Steakhouse on 19th Floor). Roof top bar.

Hotel although modern has been designed in the style of a 1920's Prohibition era hotels. Colours used are dark with lots of black or dark wood. Even the elevators have been given a 1920's makeover.

Check In

Receieved email 48 hours before checkin confirming Le Club Platinum benefits to be offered, asking if I had any special requests and requesting confirmation of expected check in time.

Bags taken from taxi and escorted to small lobby area, shown to a desk and invited to take a seat. Passports requested. Prepared check in pack ready.

Receptionist quickly confirmed details. Informed room upgrade avaialble although 2 rooms would be on accross the corridor from one another or we could have originally booked rooms which would be connecting. Connecting rooms were not important so took the upgrade to two Yama Executive rooms one of which was a corner room offering windows on two side and a large window in the bathroom.

Welcome drink voucher for 4 provided useable in Speakeasy Bar plus voucher for 4 further drinks in same bar due to Chic Aperitif rate booked.

Reconfirmed by receptionist as Platinum member that we would receive complimentary breakfast for all 4 guests, free minibar soft drinks for both rooms and use of the Speakeasy bar for complimentary drinks and snacks daily 4.30 to 6.30pm.

Asked if we required late check out which we didn't.

Room cards provided in specific Platinum member wallets.

Escorted to rooms, receptionist checked happy with rooms. Luggage delievered to rooms whilst receptionist still present.

Dining

Celebrated my wifes birthday whilst at the hotel. Reserved dinner in Babettes Steakhouse on the 19th Floor.

In keeping with rest of hotel the 1920's prohibition era decor worked well with the steakhouse theme. Large granite topped tables and high backed leather chairs.

Requested and allocated a window table which offered great views accross Bangkok.

Ordered on recommedation the Waghu Tomahawk which offered 1kg of steak which came carved and served all of us. Served with selection of sides. Steak served perfectly rare as requested.

Service attentive whilst not overbearing.

Had requested a fruit platter instead of a birthday cake which was very good also.

Same restaurant provides hotel breakfast. As restaurant isn't large retains much of the atmosphere of a club lounge. Was never busy during our stay. Buffet not as large as in bigger hotels but quality was good. Liked the intimacy of venue for breakfast compared to hustle and bustle which often occurs in larger hotel breakfast venues. Assume if hotel busy at peak breakfast time might get crowded.

Roof top bar The Speakeasy also acts as evening lounge offering 4.30 to 6.30pm.  Bar is 1920's prohibition themed both in terms of decor and staff uniform. Hotels has achieved the theme well producing a classy venue whilst avoiding being over the top. Bar offers both outdoor and indoor seating.

Lounge/Platinum offering consists of special drinks menu consisting of beers, house wines, spirits, 3 cocktails and soft drinks. Not a large selection but service was very good with regular offer of more drinks including last orders. Small buffet offered 2 hot items (calamari, ribs, pork with sweet chili sauce, satay etc), 3 or 4 cold canapes, cold meats, cheeses, fruit and 4 or 5 desserts. Offering was different each night so didn't become repetative. Quality was good and buffet continuosly topped up. Whilst we stayed evening drinks was never crowded although outside seats offering the best views were at a premium.

Le Club drinks voucher was marked "Platinum Cocktails" which on asking included all the usual cocktails, house wines, beers, spirits, softdrinks and mocktails.

All the food and drink outlets used we found excellent.

Overall

We were looking for a hotel which offered a bit of character. Hotel Muse certainly offered this. The decor is different to the usual international hotel. It may not appeal to all but we loved it. Has become my new first choice of hotel in Bangkok.

Bathroom

Separate bath and shower. Corner room offered picture window with electic blind.

Shanghai Tang toiletires.

Pool

Pool on 19th Floor is small infinity pool. Offers about 15 sun beds. High quality pool towels offered. Adjoining locker room.

Although pool is small was never busy and offered all that was required.
