We checked in around 15 hours ago and are checking out early and moving to the Westin Siray Bay.

Booked and paid for a Deluxe Ocean View Pool King and walked in to find hard of the 105sqm is, in fact, the balcony and pool. On top of that the building in front is obstructing half of the view. The high concrete walls give an enclosed compound feeling and the aspect of the resort means you will get very little direct sunlight if any. The room is also not designed for eating meals, we had to sit on the bed while eating room service which took over an hour to be delivered.

Woke up this morning and decided would most likely get cabin fever if we stayed. We come to Thailand to relax by a private pool and this hotel is not designed for this.

To be fair Diamond recognition has been great. Treated very well at check in, escorted to the room by front desk agent, emails and phone calls from managers on duty to make sure we were happy. Noticed staff knew who we were when they called me by name. Standard Hyatt procedure to VIP Diamonds but given they I hadn't given the front desk agent my name or room when asking for change they must be using passport photos for recognition.

We did not use the club lounge, however breakfast in the Pool Bar was very good with Eggs Benedict made to order and the lattes well made.

The hotel did offer to upgrade us to a 2 Bedroom Suite, however we really want a pool.

Location wise the hotel is in a MUCH busier location than the Westin. We don't visit Patong nor like the crowd it attracts. This only added to the need to have a comfortable large room because we din't plan to leave the resort.

In hindsight I should have anticipated this. We normally book suites as a minimum or villas for the space, but I wanted to give the HR a try. There are also some build quality issues with tiles missing from the balcony and the finishes but that's to be expected in Phuket it seems!

The hotel has current model E Classes that was a great way to arrive and depart.

Upon check out management were very apologetic. The Assistant Front Office Manager told me they are converting the spa into one bedroom suites, alas still with no pool. They even called the hotel we were moving to and ensured we could check in straight away. I feel guilty because their service was exemplary.

For what it's worth for the price of the room we booked we could get a One Bedroom Sala Pool Villa at the Westin which is much bigger, has a better view and aspect with sunshine all day until sunrise on the pool and balcony and where villa guests are treated the same as elites.
