Check In

Loved the check in. As soon as the car pulls up, a team takes your bags away and you're introduced to the person who will be looking after you during your visit (Eddie was fantastic). I don't want to spoil what the check in entails but it's really nice.

Eddie then escorted us right to our room (our choosing, we were exhausted and hot).

Room

We were originally escorted to the room we had booked (ocean studio w/ plunge pool). I knew the resort was very low occupancy so I asked if there was any upgrades available since we had booked w/ a Virtuoso agent. We were upgraded to an ocean studio w/ skydeck and plunge pool. We loved the room. The sliders at the foot of the bed fully opened up which was a nice feature. We utilized the outdoor tub daily as well as the firepit. Our room (39) was also great due to the privacy of the plunge pool (I'll just call it a soaking tub). Other rooms were not as fortunate due to balconies overlooking others. I went out on the balcony one afternoon and got to see another couple celebrating on their balcony lol.

Service

We really enjoyed the serivce. You use whatsapp to communicate with the staff for anything you need. We don't speak Spanish but the staff who looks over you speaks really good English. I also think using the messaging system cuts down on any possible misunderstandings. If they aren't fully sure of what you're asking they will just simply call you.  The service at the pools, restaurants, and the beach was all great. Being a small hotel (75 rooms), you tend to see the same staff daily which is really nice.

Dining

We enjoyed all of the meals. Pricing was a bit high but we went into this knowing that. The food quality was really good so no complaints about price. There were twoo things we weren't a huge fan of. First, the breakfast credit from booking w/ Virtuoso must be used at the restaurant. Luckily we got the okay to use it for room service the last 2 mornings due to my wife and I both getting sick while there (no clue what did it to us whether it was being out in the sun all day, a bad dish, etc etc). Second, both restaurants are open air and ZERO ceiling fans. It made for a very uncomfortable dining experience at times. Lesson learned, don't force yourself to go out to dinner when you have a beautiful room with AC where you can order anything you want to eat.

Also, I'm pretty sure they charged for water while dining at restaurants. So there's that.

Lastly, the wine bottle prices aren't for the faint of heart.

Location

The hotel is located in the Riviera Maya next to El Dorado Maroma. There is a new St. Regis being built nextdoor which I will certainly need to wait to pass judgement on the design. Currently it looks a bit wild. It will be nice once that opens though so you have more food options.

Overall

I would certainly recommend going for a visit. For us, 4 nights was the perfect amount of time there due to lack of dining options.

Any questions feel free to ask away.
