Dear Trip Reporters,
We are pleased to announce that it is now possible to embed video content into your posts.
To do so simply paste in the URL in the normal way. There's no need to use any code, the URL on it's own will do.
The video will be embedded when the post is submitted. Note that it doesn't show when previewing the post.
Note also that the posting of videos is subject to the Flyertalk rules which govern the posting of links to content on other websites as well as images. Primarily the video content needs to be on topic.
Enjoy.
If you have any questions on this functionality please post them here.

Making it possible to post video trip reports is a great idea. But if video trip reports are allowed, they should be accepted as legitimate trip reports in themselves. Right now, they are not.
I recently embedded two video trip reports in this forum, both of them posted by me on YouTube. If FlyerTalk allowed me to upload them to this site, I would have done so. But, for perfectly understandable reasons, it is not (yet?) possible to upload videos to FlyerTalk forums. As soon as I posted my videos, however, I was condemned by other users and by the moderator. Apparently, I was not supposed to post video trip reports here unless the post in which the report was embedded contained "additional content."
So - let me make sure I am getting this right - I can embed a video in a trip report, but I can't upload the trip report here? But it isn't really a trip report if I already posted it somewhere else?
Let's get with the times. Video, animated gifs, sounds, are all important and useful media. We need to make use of them. There are some ideas, experiences, and observations that can be conveyed using these media more effectively than they can using good, old-fashioned text reports and still photos. Obviously there is still a very important place for old-school trip reports; words can express things that images and sounds cannot. But no medium is inherently superior: they are different.
I have just posted a new video trip report on my YouTube channel; in it I report on a flight from ORD to FRA in First Class on a Lufthansa 747-8. I think some FlyerTalk members might like to watch it, and those who don't like it might wish to comment on it. If I could upload it directly to FlyerTalk I would. But I can't, so I will embed it in a post here instead.

Its this way due to the general FT posting rules. Its not trip report specific. Originally Posted by donaldnr

Just take the URL of the video and paste it directly into your post.
Like this:

I've been thinking about doing trip reports in the near future, although I thought it might be interesting to do it with a 360 camera I have. However to embed it requires this kind of code:

Code:
Is this at all possible?<blockquote data-width="500" data-height="375" class="ricoh-theta-spherical-image" >Nordic Aurora in Norway - <a href="https://theta360.com/spheres/samples/4d5e5174-b367-11e5-aa01-064087ff3472-1" target="_blank">Spherical Image - RICOH THETA</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://theta360.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
