If you started today, which flight tracking site would you use?
The subject says it all, which flight tracking site would you use if you started today? I would appreciate advice and experience on sites including flightmemory.com, openflights.org, and flightdiary.net.

I use FlightDiary. Best map and best options to mess around with details, etc.
FlightMemory was good but you have to pay for better features and the maps aren't that great. Openflights is a bit better than FlightMemory but not much. |
Flightdiary +1

i've been using flightmemory, but flightdiary is intriguing. looks very nice. i had stopped using openflights, so i'll have to import flights from the end of 2011 to present from FM to OF, then all of OF to FD. Maybe over the weekend when I have more time.

Is there any easy way to find old flights you have taken if you can't remember exact details?
|
I've just started to play around with both Flightdiary and OpenFlights. While Flightdiary is certainly nicer looking, it seems that OpenFlights is more customizable.
For example, I wanted to see data on flights I had taken for a particular purpose. In OpenFlights, I exported the data to a CSV file, added a keyword in the "Note" column for those flights, and then imported everything back. I could then customize my search to a particular year and a particular note. I don't see a way to do so in Flightdiary. Also, I was able to easily import all my flight data from TripIt into OpenFlights. To get it into Flightdiary, I had to export from OpenFlights, import into Flightdiary, edit the fields it didn't understand, and repeat until all flights were imported. Even so, Flightdiary didn't import all the flight date information. |

I made a tentative switch to Flightdiary.com, because it provides a richer graphical interface. However, when Openflights introduced its "import from Tripit" option, I ended up switching back to Openflights because it makes things way too easy to enter flight info.

I gave a try to all of them yesterday, and in fact, Openflights got me !
Flightdiary: super nice interface, but lacks of input/import... Flytr: most advanced web design, but doesn't work Diditclear: UA & DL ??? Oh c'mon... Openflight: ok, super slow to refresh your graph, and all these banners, blah blah... but semi-automated Tripit integration (import, then review) got me. I use Tripit since 2007, and I wish it existed before... I got my 334 legs since 2007 imported in a breeze. |
What are the drawbacks of Flightaware?

Tracking vs. Tracking
Flightstats and FlightAware are more for real-time tracking of flights in progress.
Flightmemory, Openflights and Flightdiary are for keeping a log of what flights you've been on. Entirely different purposes. |
I started with Flightdiary, but then I switched to Flightdiary, better layout, more options, better maps and so on.

Over in SIN I just use the Changi airport app to send me a notification when a plane arrives, but I'm looking for an overall tracking app to use globally for flight status info. |
