Delta giving double miles on DL tickets with AS segments

Just saw this e-mail from Delta:

Quote:
Enjoy the rewards from our special relationship with Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air. Earn double bonus miles each time you fly a Delta flight or a flight on SkyTeam® members Air France, KLM or Alitalia with an Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air flight on the same ticket between September 15 and November 15, 2010.
Any plans for an equivalent AS promotion?

Just saw this too. The only benefit I can reap from this is if I book all my Alaska flights and get double miles on my Delta account. Does anyone know if I book a regular flight w/o using my AS mileage plan, can I still call in and use my status to request upgrades? (Sorry, side question)

Alaska did offer this kind of promo twice...

In Spring 2009, they offered double miles on all Delta/Northwest flights regardless if there were any Alaska segments or not.

Several months later, they offered double miles on Delta only if there was at least one Alaska segment in the same itinerary...

Will they do this again? Good question

The airport employees will not honor an upgrade unless you're flying with your Alaska mileage number. (The upgrade fee is only waived in our system when a MVPG number is assigned) But I would suggest to maybe call the Gold line once your reservation is made to see if they can make an exception.

If the upgrade clears before check-in, can you change your FF# during check-in?

Although I don't know why you'd want to accrue miles to a DL account as an MVPG, since MVPGs already get double miles for all DL & AS flights. Unless you were trying for DL status as well.

You can. It's also possible you might be booted from F (a condition for receiving AS elite benefits is that you must credit the flight to MP). Or you might not be (some have reported doing it successfully).

I can't say why you'd WANT SkyPesos(tm) instead of AS MP miles, but to each their own...

Also, that is not limited to DL/AS... This promo is also good with AF, KL, and AZ...

I hope so! I have a SEA-ATL-IND & Return next month with the SEA-ATL on AS and the ATL-IND on DL. I was able to use my AS MP# to get premium seating on the DL segments which was nice

They finally matched the offer! Too bad it's too late for me to take advantage of it

Thanks for the heads up...

I too have nothing planned for then, but you never know what might come up.

I think golfingboy may be pleasantly surprised.
