Stressed-out travelers willing and able to be flexible now have a new way to relax and refresh at San Francisco International Airport.

On Thursday, the airport officially opens what it claims is the world’s first dedicated yoga room at an airport.

“The room gives modern travelers a space that fosters and supports quiet and reflection. Those aren’t emotions that people typically encounter at the airport,” said Melissa Mizell, design director for Gensler, the Terminal 2 architecture firm that also created the yoga room, in a statement.
I for one welcome this sort of airport amenity, if it gets used well by travelers. However, if it ends up just being another place people hang out, or even worse go to as a quiet place for their phone call, that's another story.

trust me, it'll turn into a HOTEL ROOM within weeks. It's occupied, GET OUT.

I was just thinking about doing yoga in the SFO AC shower today, this is perfect!

I will give it a try tomorrow if time allows and report back.

Just talking out of my head, but yoga cannot be that dangerous? No equipment or heavy lifting, and I suppose to really harm yourself you have to already be very good at yoga. I cannot think of any yoga pose, very limited, that I could possibly do to hurt myself, and yoga poses that looks potentially hurting I cannot phantom to even try.

Dangers of yoga:

Tried out the yoga room yesterday (Friday) and today, around 5pm. There were 1 or 2 other people in there besides me and I was in there for 30-60minutes. Several times the door opened with people taking a peek, but overall it was pretty quiet.

3 mats are provided. It'd be nice if they had some wipes so you could clean the mat after you used it.

Overall, a very nice amenity imho. Nobody using it for napping or sex that I saw.

Now that discussion has died away here, will send to the SFO forum since this is an airport-specific story.
