Express Air Indonesia

Is anyone familiar with them? They are supposed to fly between DJJ Jayapura and MKW Manokwari and SOQ Sorong. Something is up with their website http://www.expressair.biz my Norton says it's an "attack website" and the last time I was able to get on they didn't have online bookings anyway.

Their flights aren't showing up on Flightstats either. http://www.flightstats.com/go/Flight...pe=0&x=39&y=10

Are they out of business? The route I need is DJJ-SOQ. Otherwise we will have to backtrack via UPG to get to SOQ but at least the DJJ-UPG is on Garuda.

Yes, Express Air still operates
Hi Tiki,

Yes, Express Air is still operating, but (like other smaller Indonesian domestic airlines) they do not have online booking.

I also get the same Norton warning message from the Express Air website, but I ignore it and have no problem. The EA website works better with Internet Explorer than other web browsers; for example, the flight schedule only loads up properly in IE.

Here is the schedule for flights between Jayapura and Sorong:
http://www.expressair.biz/schedule.php?dari=DJJ
As you can see, there are daily direct flights.

You can read a more general post about Express Air flights to Sorong here:

One drawback is that Express Air only accepts bookings up to 30 days in advance.

If you do want to book an Express Air flight, you can send an enquiry here:

Thanks for the info. I was able to see the schedule on my iPhone, that Norton message just worries me as I don't know if someone hacked the Express Air site.

It is a worry that we can't book until 30 days, if anything goes wrong we wouldn't be able to get cheap alternatives. It really surprises me that it is so difficult to get from DJJ to the western side of West Papua. We can get back to UPG on Garuda for around $60 each if we book more than 6 months in advance and there are 2 flights daily, we would get the morning one, spend the day in Makassar looking around and then get either Sriwijaya or Batavia to SOQ at 4am. There doesn't appear to be an airport hotel at UPG and it is far from the town so I guess we just have to go there late at night and wait. I did email Mau Ke Mana for a quote to price compare. I don't expect this flight to be cheap as they have a monopoly on the route.
