The Gurich Hotel until recently Langham Place Samui is available at 31GBP for a 45 sq m Suite inclusive of tax and ABF. Dates available 3/4/2011- 11/4/2011 and 23/4/2011-1/05/2011.
At least 6 rooms seem to be bookable on the early dates but only one or two later in April.
It is bookable on Expedia, Hotels.Com and Octopus Travel. Looks like they have made a 50% reduction on what would appear to be a mistake rate.
The Gurich is not the best 5 star on the island but at 28GBP it is something of a steal by Samui standards.
If you book on the Hotels.Com UK site using code HCttSPG10 you can get the daily rate down to a tad under 28GBP.
Koh Samui is beginning to get back on its feet after recent flooding with flights to the island resuming 2 days or so ago.
Hope the above deal might be of use to somebody in the region at present.

Yes I agree..however the odd night or two at the end of the month might be worth a punt...it is fully cancellable(prepaid but refundable by expedia etc) up until a few days before your stay start and if you cancelled after that date there is a one night charge which equates to just 28GBP. Couple the deal with cheap AirAsia flights to Surat Thani from Bangkok and to anyone in this part of the World you have a rather attractive deal particularly if the sun is shining which in the main it should be doing at this time of year!

I was able to price this after the first post came out on FT. But decided not to pull the trigger due to exhorbitant airfare. Around USD 450 from SIN to Samui.
The Thai airways flights goes to the mainland and you have to take a 2-hr ferry to and back, making a weekend trip kinda meaningless.
