I did not take a taxi from the airport to/from the hotel -- so I can't help in that regard, but I did take the train from the airport to the Midi(?) train station (it's the one near the Grand Place) and from there took a taxi to the hotel. Once you've seen the taxi route, you will notice that there is a tram that is not far from the hotel that runs alongside/in the middle of a major boulevard that will deposit you near St. Michael's and the general vicinity of the Grand Place.
I wouldn't advise trying to find the tram stop from the train station on your arrival since I remember it being uphill and would be somewhat difficult with luggage.
