Some tidbits here. Same day flight change is application to changing to an earlier flight or a later flight, but with different rules.
For an earlier flight:
No fee. No fare difference. Show up at airport and go to ticket agent (painful lineup at times) and they will put you on the earlier flight of your choice.
You can also do this at the check-in kiosk 5 hours prior to your flight. Also available on-line 5 hours prior to your flight.
CANNOT do this over the phone.
For a later flight - BUT before the flight has departed:
No fee. No fare difference. Show up at airport and go to ticket agent (painful lineup at times) and they will put you on the later flight of your choice.
This is not an option at the check-in kiosk or on-line. You must be at the airport and wait in the line-up for the ticket agent.
For a missed flight:
No fee. No fare difference.
This is where it gets a bit tricky. You must be at the airport, wait in line, and get to the ticket agent with enough time to spare for them to complete the flight change within two hours of your missed flight. That is 120 minutes, not 121. Your options are the next available flight. You cannot choose a later flight other than the next flight with available seats. If the next flight is full, then it will be the following flight etc. etc.
If the next flight is the following day, then that is the flight you will get.
