No PIN necessary. The kiosk's recorded voice had updated recordings on it that were something like
"insert your chip card in the reader"
"leave your chip card in the reader" etc.

The card stayed in the reader until it told me it was done.

The receipt printed with the additional information indicating an EMV transaction had happened.

This is the first time I've had the card authorize as EMV in the US. Wal-mart's timing is perfect for the area's annual influx of Canadians who own homes in the area.
