Unruly Teens Turn Violent, Cause Mid-Flight Commotion

Two 17-year-old girls were restrained for violent behavior onboard a Perth-bound flight from Sydney late last week.

Teenage terrors can be dealt with, but unruly passengers will not be tolerated. This, at least, is the message that Australian Federal Police are keen to spread after two young passengers were restrained and escorted off a Perth-bound Qantas flight late last week for their violent behavior.

While no passengers or crew were injured during the incident, a member of the public described the scene to Australian radio station 6PR, saying that there was a “massive commotion” onboard the flight. While there were a total of three people involved in the incident, the two teenage girls – both 17-year-olds – were “screaming” and “swearing” and had to be restrained with handcuffs.

“It appears that a member of the public got involved and assisted the flight crew, dragged the three people down the back of the plane,” he explained.

The flight was boarded by Australian Federal Police as it landed in Perth, who escorted the two girls off of the aircraft.

Both girls appeared in Perth Children’s Court this past Monday, where they faced a host of charges. The first teenager is accused of failing to adhere to instructions regarding activities onboard the aircraft as well as offensive and disorderly behavior during the flight. She is also accused of failing to provide a name as well as making threats and false statements.

The second girl also faces charges of failing to adhere to instructions onboard the craft as well as disorderly and offensive behavior.

This event, said a spokesman for the Australian Federal Police, serves to remind the traveling public that the country’s laws still apply – even at 30,000 feet, “unacceptable or violent behavior will not be tolerated.”

Isn't that the norm for PER bound flights? I was punched once by wild teenage girls (accidentally as the 'target' ducked the fist) nd once bombarded with a meal that was also aimed at another passenger. None of this triggered anything that could be called a 'reaction' by the flight crew. So if they did not injure anyone, I wonder how they get tied down and even handed to the police??? They must have targeted a crew member, I reckon.
