UK to Follow Electronics Ban Set By U.S.

The UK has decided to follow suit on a rule set by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Tuesday that sees a ban on some electronics devices on flights from several Middle Eastern and North African countries to the U.S.

The restrictions – which will affect such countries as Dubai, Egypt, and Qatar – come as sources confront a fear of terrorists using “innovative methods” to sabotage flights.

The details of the UK’s plan are said to mimic those of the U.S.’s.

“Evaluated intelligence indicates that terrorist groups continue to target commercial aviation, to include smuggling explosive devices in various consumer items,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.
