UK Ministers Clear Third Heathrow Runway for Takeoff

After an extended Cabinet dispute on the issue of a runway expansion at Heathrow Airport (LHR), the UK government has given approval for the opening of the third runway at LHR, citing job creation and trade stimulation as crucial factors in the decision.

A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport (LGW) claimed that the airport was disappointed in the decision, claiming that a third Heathrow runway was “not the right answer for Britain,” and several UK politicians have since voiced their continued opposition, including Boris Johnson and Justine Greening.

Heathrow claims that the expansion will permit more direct flights to UK airports and up to 40 international cities abroad.
