New research conducted by travel organization Abta shows passengers traveling through UK airports have to walk  quite a distance – up to a kilometer – to get from check-in desks to departure gates.

For example, it’s 1,165 meters at London Stansted Airport (STN) from check-in desks to departure gates, 822 meters at Manchester Airport (MAN), and 900 meters at Luton Airport (LTN).

“For most, travelling through airports is a fairly straightforward process, but for those who may find walking longer distances harder to manage, larger airports can present a challenge,” said Nikki White, Abta’s director of destinations and sustainability.
