Plane Abandons Landing Meters From Runway

The pilot of an Air Malta flight was allegedly forced to abort the landing of a passenger plane just a few meters above the runway at Munich Airport (MUC) on Wednesday after noticing another airplane already grounded on the tarmac. A spokesperson for Air Malta confirmed that the pilot was forced to make a go around at the airport to protect the safety of the passengers and crew, adding: “A go around is a normal procedure and not uncommon at busy airports. Air Malta regrets any inconvenience caused to its passengers and wishes to stress that at no time were the aircraft, passengers and crew in any danger.”

@compubit Airports actually do that? seems like a disaster waiting to happen if pilots are rushing the landing.

When I saw the headline, I was initially thinking it was one of these out of the way airports that was charging airlines for how long they were taking to land (metering the landing). Obviously not, but the headline caught me off guard...
