Pilots Confuse Road for Runway

The pilots of an IndiGo flight from Ahmedabad to Jaipur very nearly landed the plane on a patch of road that they mistook for a runway. The flight from Ahmedabad to Jaipur was preparing to land when the pilots received a “too low terrain” warning from local air traffic control. “The captain immediately carried out a go-around. The aircraft landed safely on a subsequent approach,” said a spokesperson for IndiGo said in a statement in February that has only recently gone public. The aircraft was reportedly fewer than 300 meters from the ground and 90 seconds from touching down on the road before flight crew recognized the error.

Always worried if the if any or all of the cockpit crew are related to some government minister, and were rushed thru ATP school. Had this happen to my Air India flight to JFK, nearly landed on the expressway adjacent to the runway....in 1977!!
