North Carolina NAACP Head Is Suing AA

Civil rights leader Reverend William Barber filed a lawsuit against American Airlines Wednesday for an April 15 incident that he said left him feeling a like victim of discrimination. Barber reportedly entered into an altercation with a passenger on his flight after he asked a crew member to request the man sitting behind him to speak more quietly. According to Barber, the man then began making disparaging comments about him. Once he confronted the passenger and the discussion took a heated turn, the police were called and Barber was asked to depart.

In the suit, Barber is asking to be financially compensated as well as changes to the carrier’s policies.
