Lawsuit: AA Forgot Disabled Passenger’s Wheelchair, Called Cops

In a lawsuit filed against American Airlines, disabled passenger Michael Mennella claims that American Airlines unfairly called the police on him after he hobbled down the aisle of the aircraft to ask for a drink instead of using a wheelchair, which the airline did not provide him as promised. Mennella, a double amputee, claims that the police immediately realized that he was not inebriated, as the carrier had informed them he was.

“As demonstrated by police-administered field tests, and as revealed in an official field report, Mr. Mennella was not intoxicated,” the lawsuit reads. “Instead, he was an innocent victim of AA’s brutish misconduct.”
