Jet Airways Partners With Delta, Air France-KLM

Jet Airways is planning to enter a partnership with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM.

India-based airline Jet Airways is branching out from its alliance with shareholder partner Etihad Airways in order to build a new global expansion plan. Jet plans to form a transatlantic venture with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, allowing for codeshares and expanded service.

“India and US have an open sky agreement,” a Jet spokesperson told the Economic Times. “As a network carrier with international operations, Jet Airways is constantly evaluating opportunities to offer greater connectivity to its guests. Any specific developments including codeshares, will be communicated at an appropriate time.”

The collaboration will give Jet access to 13 international and 10 domestic airports and destinations in the US through Delta and eight more destinations in the US through Air France, plus nine more through KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. In addition to the new codeshare arrangements, Jet will have accessibility for frequent flyer programs as well.

“The extension of the services with Jet Airways and Delta Air Lines will enable Air France-KLM’s customers to travel more easily and with the best possible services via our two powerful European hubs, between Europe, India and North America,” Pieter Bootsma, Executive Vice President of Commercial Strategy at Air France-KLM, said in a release.

Jet has also recently announced that it plans to revise flight times to its Paris hub, giving passengers better access to North American destinations, and the airline is considering running its own flights to New York. Jet is also expanding its short-haul destination list as well — it’s currently the biggest provider of flights to Dubai, counting 70 flights per week.
