Flight Diverted: ‘Potential Smoke in the Cockpit’

A Southwest Airlines flight from Columbus to Denver diverted to Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) after the pilot declared an emergency on Tuesday. A spokesperson for the carrier said the reason for diversion was to “investigate potential smoke in the cockpit.” Emergency vehicles met the flight just after it touched down. No injuries were reported, and the passengers departed for Denver on a different flight. The original aircraft is out of service pending review.
