Danniella Westbrook, a longtime actress on the BBC daytime drama EastEnders, was reportedly removed from a flight for questioning a $60 bag fee for bringing her purse onboard.
Danniella Westbrook, an actress who made a name for herself playing Sam Mitchell on the ultra-popular British soap opera EastEnders, hasn’t been a staple of UK tabloid newspapers since her days as a troubled young starlet, but thanks to protests over what she believed was an unfair fee for her carry-on bag, the celebrity is making headlines again. The star was photographed being escorted off of her EasyJet flight from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) in Spain on Thursday May 18.
Initial media reports indicated that the former model was ejected from the flight after an altercation with an entourage traveling on a bachelor party weekend, but the Daily Mail now reports that the incident stemmed from a heated exchange about paying an additional fee for having too many carry-on bags. According to the newspaper, the former teen star was given the option of placing her handbag in her carry-on case or paying a nearly $60 fee.
Westbrook reportedly became upset as she questioned the airline’s bag policy. Eyewitnesses say that although the actress eventually placed her purse inside of her carry-on, Westbrook made it very clear that she was unhappy about the inconvenience. ”No I’m f****g not,” the soap star allegedly replied when a fellow passenger asked her if she was okay. “They’ve made me put my handbag away in my hand luggage.”
According to The Sun, the onetime I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! cast member was unable to hold back her tears as she was led from the plane. EasyJet, however, is said to have offered her a seat on a flight to the resort destination later that same day.
