Alaska to Placate Virgin Mourners With Kevin Durant, Mood Lighting

On the heels of Alaska Airlines’ purchase of Virgin America in 2016, the carrier plans to console customers who miss Virgin America’s charms by introducing several elements of Virgin’s style to its flights, including music at airport gates, blue mood lighting to approximate Virgin’s iconic purple, and a partnership with basketball star Kevin Durant.

Durant wants to take part in a San Francisco-area initiative in conjunction with Alaska Airlines to aid youth and education in the Bay Area.
