A4A: Congress Could Help With TSA Queues

According to a report from Fox 5, Airlines for America (A4A) released a statement Thursday claiming, “Congress should reverse a 2013 decision that diverted $12.6 billion in passenger security fees to reducing the federal budget deficit.” Nick Calio, President of A4A, said that money should instead go into screening passengers “where it belongs.”

How about A4A uses their lobbyists to get rid of the disgusting agency that is TSA. Airlines' load factors are declining but they can't seem to figure out why. Well, it's staring you right in your face airlines and it's called TSA. Waiting 2 hours in a security line for a 1-2 hour flight makes NO sense at all. It's probably one of the worst failures of government in this country's history, and that's before we even look at how much money this agency consumes AND how much travel is being avoided due to the TSA. I'd fly to a lot more business meetings if I didn't have to deal with the nightmare that the TSA has become at many airports. Instead we'll do it via teleconference or videoconference.

Members of Congress go thru normal lines but with pre check as frequent fliers and obviously less of a threat. TSA and Congress have diverted funds available IMO to keep TSA the main provider. If they hadn't privatizing would prevail. Yes under TSA supervision that's allowed. So for now there are no excess funds to change the havoc.

TSA does not need more money. TSA needs to make its staff actually do some work.

Not really Sabai, same issues happen to Southwest at MDW and they don't have a bag fee. It's TSA incompetence that's the issue and its not something more money or less bags will fix.

Congress should hold hearings and ask why this is an issue now? This is total BS and a political scam to get more money for TSA, probably for bonuses and to get travelers to pony up and payfor CLEAR. Guess TSAPre didn't charge enough. The lines are being targeted by agents slowing up the scanning process and allowing too many complimentary TSAPre. My grandson gets it 8 out of 10 times. Is there a bigger fraud than what is being perpetuated on the American People than TSA stealing our property? Wake up people, we are not safer now than we were 9-11 just more inconvenienced!
