Location

This is most probably the only reason why you would not want to stay at this property especially if you are in Nicosia for tourism reasons and do not want to depend on taxis or public transportation or car to get to the old city of Nicosia as it's about 5 km from the old town.  Other than that, the location is ok and there are quite a number of restaurants and shops around the hotel.  There is an housing area to the back of the hotel.

Check In

Arrived late to the hotel on Christmas eve and there was no guests at the front desk so I was helped immediately and was off to my room within mins of arriving at the hotel.  Front desk associates were friendly and given a run down of my benefits and the use of the 'Executive Lounge'.

Room

As an elite member, I was upgraded to a suite (Junior from what I can gauge).  I believe that the rooms were recently renovated (based on the smell and the differences between the exterior and interior of the room).  The renovated room was very well done giving a spacious and light feeling.  For me this was nice but for some it could be sterile - personal taste dependent.

I was totally surpised by the rather 'luxurious' welcome gift which was totally unexpected.  If this is how they treats their elite member (or maybe it was just because it was the festive season), than I do hope that more Hilton's around the world including those in Asia will learn from them.  For me these are small touches that don't cost the hotel too much but make a great impression.

The sitting area was nice and comfortable.  Separating the sleeping area and the sitting area, there was a dual TV wall (which to me is another wow factor).

As usual there were tea/coffee making facilities in the room.  Internet was stable and good quality.  Temperature control of the room was ok.

Since the room was facing the main road, the windows seems not to be too noise isolated as late into the night, due to some crazy andrenaline drivers/motocyclist, I could hear them speeding or accelerating and tyres squeeking.  Luckily this only lasted to slightly after 1 am.

The bathroom was huge, with dual sink area and separate rooms for the toilet, walk-in shower and bath tub.  Design here was to me very modern and chique.  The only caution here would be the amount of glass doors used for each of these rooms - in case of walking into one if you are not careful or when having too many of them in the open position.  Other than that, water pressure and temperature control was good.

Executive lounge

This property does not have a separate Executive lounge, but they have one at the back of the bar located at the lobby.  They have a set up at the end of the area where during the evening hors d'oeuvres hot food is made available.  Besides that, they also have a menu where you can order some platters.  For beverages, all the normal house wine/beer can be ordered and including some basic cocktails and liquers.  As expected the quality is very good and service is friendly.

Breakfast

The breakfast is served in the main restaurant of the hotel.  As expected, the spread is very good.  The best part is that they have a section where they proudly promote Cypriotic cuisine and products which is something that more hotels should do.  Food quality was good and fresh.

They do have a egg station.  On a nice day, they have a tent covered area where you can have breakfast.  Service was very efficient and friendly.

Overall

All in all, this (and the Hilton Cyprus) has got to be some of the best Hiltons in the world even beating most of the Asian properties especially from Elite member recognition point of view.   Even for non-elite members, service level here is exceptionally good and friendly and also much better than quite a number of properties in Asia.  For me, all other Hilton in the world should look at these properties to learn from them.
