Stayed one night at this hotel which is located on the top three floors of the JW Marriott Marquis, located downtown Miami.

Arrival

I was a walkout form the Viceroy Miami, they even charged me for my second night but I left anyway never to return. My arrival was unannounced, meaning I came by taxi as I was not aware it was so close to where I was staying. The taxi dropped me off at the lobby of the JW Marriott Marquis and was greeted warmly by JW staff. I said I was going to the Beaux Arts Hotel within the hotel. Right away a bellmen from Beaux Arts came over and greeted me by name. (There must have been no arrivals that day as I was two hours early and gave no notice that I was on my way over). Bags carried to elevator and up to the 39th floor lobby that has key access for Hotel Beaux Arts guest only. Nice clean and modern lobby with lounge and bar and pleasant staff. A very warm greeting, again by name with cool towels and cold water offered. I told the person checking me in that I would never put the word Marriott and luxury hotel in the same sentence and he told me he would show me that they do indeed belong together. I was told that I was upgraded to a nice room and hoped I would give them the chance to change my idea of Marriott.

Suite

This suite reminded me of a James Bonds movie, it was sleek, modern, with tons of space, huge windows, views and light. It had it all. Entry had a extra large half bath to one side, a large living room with dark wood floors, white couches, full bar, espresso machine, over sized B&O TV and sound system, black out shades (electric of course). Sliding frosted glass door to the bedroom, with beautiful woodwork rising over the bed, built in night tables, two black leather chairs, second large B&O TV. Off to the side was just the nicest bathroom with chocolate marble floors and walls, sinks with light features built into them to show you the temp. of the water, separate large soaking tub, walk in rain shower with hand held wand as well. Enough Molton Brown products to keep me clean for weeks after my visit.

Service

From start to finish service was perfect! In your room is the amazing I-pad which you can use to request anything. The hotel has preloaded it with everything you can think of and request for room service, ice, notice of arrival of guest coming for a visit, etc. are handled using the I-pad. It worked really well.

Dining

Room service was placed using the I-pad and arrived fast and looking amazing. The tray the food was placed on was huge and really was like a table that could be carried by the staff. They even came to pick up the tray as soon as I called to say it was ready to be removed. db Bistro Modern is on the street level and also takes care of room service. Illy Espresso has a great caf on the mezzanine level. There is a second casual restaurant that serves great pizza which I tried. It was nice to come down from the top floors and take advantage of what this large hotel offers.

Gym, Spa & Pool

Very nice, full of equipment offering great views, fruit, water, and towels. The Spa is attached to the gym and though I did not use it but I looked in the treatment rooms, locker rooms and all looked very nice. The gym offers a full NBA basketball court that will have lots of fans coming in for the Heat games. Pool is stainless steel and of decent size, not like Viceroys but it did the trick.

Overall

I look forward to staying here again, its not for someone that wants to be on the beach but if your in downtown, or planning to go to the galleries and design district then this is the place to stay. Great for post or pre cruise or if you coming to town for the Heat games.
