We are not a horse racing family and did not know what to expect when we booked this property for a weekend break, we even had to check the map to find its location in Sydney’s outer western suburbs.  However we were blown away with this properties sophistication, and its impeccable grounds. The property is a tribute to the equestrian heritage and class of its owners.

Check In

The Reception was light and spacious with comfortable seating and a coffee shop. The background music was very relaxing and we were warmly greeted by the Duty Manager (Palu) who was very apologetic when there were a few minor issues with our rooms availability. This was more than adequately compensated with the offer of a relaxing drink by the pool until the situation was resolved.

Room

Our loyalty was acknowledged with an upgrade to a Suite (706) a beautiful corner room overlooking Warrick Farm racecourse with lounge, master bedroom, walkthrough closet and a huge bathroom with a separate shower and bath complimented with Appelles toiletries. The room was named after the thoroughbred Igugu, and the equestrian theme ran tastefully throughout. A nice additional touch was that her history was not forgotten at the door, it was interesting to find a postcard of the mares international achievements next to our welcome gift of chocolates. As all rooms up to the Black Caviar Presidential Suite bears the name of a different Inglis pedigree, I wonder how they manage to ensure that the correct postcard is positioned in the correct room?

Dining

We visited the restaurant for Dinner and Breakfast and were not disappointed. The quality of both meals cannot be understated, the locally sourced T-Bone with the side of green vegetables were cooked to perfection. The Executive Chefs quality not quantity ethos really speaks volumes with the buffet breakfast one of the best I have tasted, and we were even more surprised when we were informed that it was now complimentary for Platinum guests.

There is a bar closeted away on the Mezzanine level dedicated to all things Inglis. The open fire and seating envelopes you, and during my stay provided a comfortable and quite location to chat with my family.

Pool

The Pool area on the top floor is very modern take on a classical style and overlooks the racecourse. The pools toilet and change facilities reflected the quality fixtures and fittings we later experienced throughout this property, and I was especially taken by the matt black slate hand wash area. There is also a spa on this level which we didn’t use.

Overall

From the tasteful equestrian theme throughout, to the cutlery in the restaurant and the deep pile carpet leading to the rooms, all of the fixtures and fittings in this property ooze taste and class. We left with the impression that the Owners are connoisseurs of style and service and have built a property to mirror their expectations and be a place that they would be comfortable staying and bring their friends.

Build it and they will come, I sure hope you do it is outstanding! For a hotel in the ‘middle of nowhere’, it surprised us, and we loved it, I can only imagine the atmosphere when the yearlings are led inside the function room to be auctioned, I hope they have rooms on special then!
