They are making progress on the renovation.   No one is talking about the lounge/Regency Club so it must be a long way off.  As of January 2016 there are still only 2 elevators available.  So expect there to be a wait and crowds sometimes.  Check-in for me has always been quick.  I always receive the bonus points for the RC being closed.  In other words the lobby and restaurant are still under construction.  When they're done they're gonna be great.  You've never seen anything like it.

The valet parking is now $40.00.  There is not much self-parking at this hotel so I always opt for the valet.  The valet is very quick about bringing your car up so it does save time. The Quick Park garage is a better option.  It is right next door so its not a hassle at all.  Be sure to make a reservation online if you plan on parking at QP because it does fill up.

Victor the Bellman is the best.  In March 2017 he will have been here 40 years.  That's 19 years when it was a Hyatt before, then the Radisson years, and now Hyatt again. He is very excited about working for Hyatt again.  All the staff is very helpful and friendly.   They really go out of their way for you.

The restaurant is in a temporary location.  The new one is scheduled to open in January (maybe later).  Many of the original staff are still there,  the two Martins and Abel, for example.  For breakfast you can order an omelet with the buffet.  Which might be an option if you are in a hurry.  I prefer to order off the menu.

A few more items; in Nov/Dec 2016 some of the lowest rates I've seen were $90/night.  They tell me the rates will be going up once RENO is complete.  You can't beat this hotel's proximity to the airport.  The pool has been closed for resurfacing.  What happened to all that water?  Insider tip: from what I understand, the Front Desk knows of a neighboring hotel that let's Hyatt guests use their pool.

I almost forgot to mention the room; Just in case you are concerned about airport noise,  I always get a room facing the runways and never hear planes taking off.  The Aquafina that used to be free in the rooms is now $3.00 for a .5 liter bottle.  However, housekeeping will still give you all the packets of Starbucks Verona you can drink.  The rooms have a small frig and a big TV.  The Hyatt Grand Bed is very comfortable.  The rooms also have a safe if that is important to you.  The shower is great.  You may have read elsewhere that the bathroom is small.  Yes its small but adequate.  Ignore the old/negative reviews, most of them are pre-reno.

If clean, quiet, comfortable is important to you then HR LAX is a great choice.
