Planning/Booking

We had a surprise night away, so I had it down to the Ivy (still looking to stay there) with dinner at Magdalena (they were having a Ruinart dinner) versus the FS with dinner at Charleston- I punted to the wife and she did not want to have a group dinner, so the FS it was. Besvisor contacted and replied quickly, who booked us the Fountain View Exec suite and confirmed the upgrade to Water View the next day (it was a Sunday, so I'll cut him a little slack on that- just kidding!)

Check In

quick drive down as usual, car left with valet as I forgot that one can self park for much cheaper in the same building.. We declined help with our paltry bags and headed to checkin, where we were welcomed back. Check in was quick and efficient but I did notice the cookie stand had been replaced with just apple cider. I mentioned to the checkin that we really enjoyed the Apple caramel cookies in the past and were disappointed to see that they were gone...

Location

I think I've mentioend this before but the location is very good for Baltimore. Our favorite restaurants are nearby (Charleston and Cinghiale) and it's a nice area to walk around. The biggest drawback of the Ivy is the lack of any sort of neighborhood one would want to walk around...

Room

This is my preferred room I think. I've stayed int he Premier Water view and the Lighthouse View Suite as well, but I think the Water View Exec Suite has my favorite view. We got a fantastic view of sunset. The Lighthouse suite has too much of Baltimore in it; and I can literally see where I work... Still need to stay in the Harbor Suite...

Dining

We only had breakfast via room service but it was actually much better than before I would say. Breakfast is served out of the Bygone, so if one's never been there I would say it's worth going and having breakfast there. However, I would wager it's a pain because you have to descend to the lobby and than catch the elevator up. I really quite enjoyed my chesepeake benedict and the order arrived in less than 30 mins. IMG_1784.JPEGIMG_1786.JPEGIMG_1787.JPEGIMG_1788.JPEGIMG_1789.JPEG

Gym

I rode a Peloton for the first time. I guess it's marginally more exciting than the normal stationary bike. All kiding aside, the gym gets lots of morning sun which was a bit much for me.. I couldn't figure out how to work the shades so I just dealt with it. It's a well equipped but pretty standard FS gym

Service

Overall I would say it's pretty solid still. The welcome amenity seemed a bit smaller than last visit, but than they made up for it by sending us up a batch of the Apple Caramel cookies! I'm not sure if my preferences got forgotten, but there wasn't a tea kettle in room as there have been at previous visits. A quick call down got one sent up, including a large Aqua Panna bottle for which we didn't get charged (because who makes tea with just regular tap water). It's been noted in the past that I am allergic to L'occitane Verbena products, and usually they've provided Bvlgari ones instead;  however this time it was L'occitane Amande products.. which were fine. However, I don't know if they've moved to Amande products hotel wide, or if this was the alternative product.. either way I guess they didn't give the product I'm allergic too I guess.. They did neglect to provide additional NEspresso capsules with turn down, but there is coffee available in the morning in the lobby.. Finally, the FSPP credit is for spa credit, but I did not have an opportunity to take a treatment at the stay. They were, however, willing to let me pre-pay for my wife's spa day that she had already planned for the weekend..

Overall

It's just so easy for us. less than 20 mins door to door. Solid service, great location, solid hard product. The spa is great as well, and my wife reaffirmed that when she visited over the weekend. I was very very dubous when FS announced Baltimore, but they've proven me wrong. It's been 8 years and they seem to still be ticking the right boxes...
