Check In

Check in at the hotel was quick and simple. The lobby area is huge and check in is to the left as you get into the main doors. I can't speak for upgrades, as I was Titanium at the time, they did not offer me any upgrade.

Room

The room was on a high floor, and originally they had me down for 2 queens but I switched to a King room. The room is located on the 18th floor and I guess it is an executive room king. The bathroom was fine, water pressure in the shower could take the skin off you, which I like. Hot water always came out fast. The TV channels didn't offer much for an international traveler. I find this is usual in mainland China. The bed was quite comfortable, and I found I slept like a baby almost every night I was there. The room was also quiet too. I spent 6 nights in this room. Service

I ordered room service twice while I was here. The first time it arrived quickly and the food was great. (Picture below). The second time it took them 30 minutes longer than they had told me, and they brought the wrong items. The staff member bringing the items didn't speak any English and I had to have the front desk translate. This was a big fail for the hotel, and as it was 10pm and I needed to sleep soon, I wasn't able to eat dinner that night.IMG_3842.JPEG

Dining

I used the buffet restaurant on the second floor twice. It was okay. Very seafood heavy, and I hear that is a draw to get people to eat at the hotel. The spread wasn't bad, but the service was hit or miss. The first time I went the service was terrible and I had to chase someone down both to get a seat, and to pay the bill. The second time, there was someone who took care of me the whole time. (sorry no photos)

Lounge

I was the only member of my group that was entitled to the lounge due to their elite status. The company had put us all up in Executive Rooms w/ lounge access as they didn't know what our status was and I guess it was easier for them.

I ate breakfast in the lounge and it was quite good. I would say about 8/10. They did made to order eggs, which is good if you want variety, bad if you are in a hurry and just want some scrambled eggs (which most lounges just provide in addition to the egg order service).

The night time offerings I think I did only 3 times, and they weren't bad. They rotated the hot food offerings.

I found the lounge wasn't ever packed, either at breakfast or dinner, which I think is great.

Gym

I sort of expected to be able to use the gym after finishing up work, but that didn't really happen. I did go down and take photos on my last night at the hotel as we finished quite early that day. (8pm) Overall I think it has enough equipment to keep you on your workout routine for a day or two. If I was having to spend a longer time than a week at this hotel, this probably wouldn't do the job.IMG_3867.JPEGIMG_3868.JPEG

Location

This hotel is located in the Pudong section of Shanghai. I stayed at this particular hotel as the purpose of my visit was work related and the site we were working at was about 10 minutes from the hotel, so it was about minimizing our travel time. I had views of the river area where the CCTV Tower is located and people usually go for scenic photos etc. It wasn't my first time to Shanghai, so that wasn't important to me, but for someone going there for the first time it might be.

It is about 1hr from the Hongqiao Airport/Train Station and 30 minutes from Pudong Airport, traffic depending.

The area I saw was very beautiful and I would stay at this hotel again if I am ever in Pudong again.

Overall

Overall it was a great experience and it exceeded my expectations.
