I am pleased to post the 1st full review of Pullman Tokyo Tamachi after a very good 5 nights stay.

I will of course address the strong points as well as the "weak" ones. But overall, I was very satisfied of this stay and this hotel marks a much welcome presence of Accor in the upscale segment with something serious and very decent !

As previously reported, the hotel is located along the Tamachi JR train station and Mita metro station (2 lines - "Toey" operator). This is really convenient as you can go everywhere quite quickly. You can walk from the train station to the hotel without having to take any stairs.

Form HND, the hotel can be reached in 20-25 min taxi, or by train and metro. Unfortunately, the HND monorail is not a convenient option : the line passes at 100m from the hotel but doesn't stop.

When you arrive by car, you are dropped on the station side where there is just a small welcome lobby with someone to help with luggage, calling taxis and a lift leading to 2nd floor which is the real lobby. The 2nd floor is where you have the main entrance of the hotel, on the plazza on the opposite side of the station and this is the place you see on the 1st pictures above or just below here.

The hotel was quite busy, which is nice for them so shortly after opening.

 

Check In

I told the attendant that I'd like to check-in at the lounge. After a quick stop at the front desk to check my eligibility, I was escorted to the lounge on the 9th floor.

I arrived at 7 pm which is the end of the happy hour evening cocktail service (but they are flexible with this - I will address this later in the lounge part). I was proposed the drink of my choice while they were taking care of the check-in formalities which were quickly and efficiently addressed. I was clearly expected which is always nice and helps to Feel Welcome. The staff members at the lounge (and all others) were super nice and spoke well English. I was given an enveloppe containing welcome notes and 2 drink vouchers, plus the buiness card of the hotel in English and Japanese (very useful to give to a taxi driver).

The Guest Relations manager came also to the lounge to welcome me and he gave me his business card in case I was needing anything or any problem to report.

They told me I was upgraded from Superior room to Deluxe Executive (I will come back on this in the room section).

I took the time to finish my drink at the lounge and went to my room where my bags were already delivered.

Room

The room was large for Japanese standards. I would say it is the typical room size you find in Europe. The room was facing the mall side (opposite side of the train station). It was on the 8th floor (the hotel has 9 floors). Nice design and still immaculate as you can expect hopefully for a new hotel.

One design flaw that comes immediately to your attention is the completely open bathroom (apart the walk-in shower which has a door). So there is 0 privacy in the bathroom if you are 2 in the room. Also, there is no real desk to work. You use for this the continuation of the bathroom plan which is not the most convenient + nowhere to plug your laptop close to this.

The bed was very comfortable. Soundproofing was perfect. Several power and USB ports on each side of the bed.

Espresso machines with 3 capsules replenished every day. 2 bottles of Evian water also given every day. The welcome gift was the 2 packs of salted Japanese snacks that you can see on one of the picture below.

Regarding the room upgrade, I looked on the website for the different categories and I was not really sure I was upgraded as my room corresponded exactly to the Superior room I booked. I asked the agent at the lounge who confirmed I was upgraded to Deluxe on Executive floor/lounge access but she agreed that there were not much differences between room categories (suites apart of course) and that the main differences were the Exceutive "high" floor, and...a wood floor instead of a carpet ! One upgrade character is also maybe a room not facing the train station. I have the feeling that it is a bit like the Sofitel Singapore City Centre where there is also not that much difference between rooms. No big deal as I enjoyed the room and I trust them (the Japanese are not known for lying AFAIK). But it will be interesting to have further upgrade experiences reported here.

There was no turndown service in the evening.

As reported by other posters, it is a bit small but I liked the atmosphere and it was pleasant to be in. You can have breakfast there (7 to 10:30 am), but the selection is minimal (although you can order the usual warm options). Platinum members can have also their free BF at the main restaurant on the 2nd floor where the buffet is very nice. I had BF every day at the lounge, except once at the main buffet, as I always prefer the quiet atmosphere of the lounge + I am not a big eater at BF so the lounge offer is sufficient for me.

The evening cocktail time is 5 to 7 pm. But they are very flexible for the 7 pm time. Several times during my stay, they extended to 7:15/7:30 pm. Alcoholic drinks include beers, sake, red/white/sparkling wine. The canape selection is not huge but it makes the job (it will not make your dinner for sure).

There is a door from the lounge leading directly to the 9th floor bar.

Dining

The hotel restaurant is called KASA and is on the 2nd floor. I didn't have lunch or dinner there but the menu looks nice. Expect something in the 50-70 EUR for the dinner. Cheaper for lunch. The breakfast buffet is very good.

You have plenty of other food options at 10m, just hoping to the building across the plaza on the same floor (more western food style) and on 1st floor (Japanese food).

There are 2 bars : one on 2nd floor, adjacent to front desk and one on 9th floor.

9th floor bar has also an outdoor seating area. NIce but a bit noisy because of the trains. There is a special menu for the drinks available for drink voucher redemption.

Overall

Late check out : I had a very late flight from HND. They said that they can grant until 5 pm to Platinum members but on my day of check-out, they were almost fully booked, so they could only grant me 2 pm. This was inconvenient to me so I checked out in the morning (in the lounge) and stored luggage with them. They said that of course I can come back and stay in the lounge as long as I wish and enjoy the evening cockails, which I did.

Overall, a very good hotel with great staff. Great stay in Tokyo. Very good to see Accor here with a nice option.
